The hosts of the Breeders’ Cup 2024 have been announced as Del Mar will host its third World Championship horse racing event in California.
Delmar Breeders’ Cup Delight Californian Track Announced as Host for 2024
The race was first held at Del Mar in 1937, but California’s tracks have taken a big hit in recent years.
Since 2017, Del Mar has hosted two Breeders’ Cups (2017 and 2021), with another planned for 2024.
The 2024 Del Mar Breeders’ Cup will take place over two days, Friday/Saturday, November 1 and 2, with more than $30 million in prize money expected for the San Diego games.
The Breeders’ Cup Chief Executive said:
“The Breeders’ Cup has always been a strong supporter of California horse racing and we look forward to reintroducing this incredible venue to jockeys and fans around the world.”

California all the way as Santa Anita hosts the 2023 Breeders’ Cup
Before Del Mar passes the baton of the Breeders’ Cup, Santa Anita will host the 2023 event. That means his next two bouts will be on the east coast of California.
For the 11th time, Santa Anita will host America’s largest horse racing event. The Breeders’ Cup was held for the first time in 1986 for him and most recently in 2019 for him.
