Four Manchester United players were featured as England beat South Korea in the opening match of the Arnold Clarke Cup.

Mary Arps, who had little to do as she kept a clean sheet, was between the Lioness bars.

Ella Toon and Alessia Russo also started with Toon creating many chances for England throughout the game.

A perfect weighted pass from Toon was played to Rachel Daley but was successfully blocked by South Korea.

Toon also tried to put her name on the board by crossing the front of goal and Katie Robinson followed up, but her shot rattled Woodwork.

Alessia Russo and former United forward Lauren James came close several times in the first half, with the Lionesses dominating possession.

Russo scored and in England’s third, Greenwood sent a cross from the bye line to the front post where Russo went in front of the defenders and she shoved it all the way into the back of the net.

Katie Zelem, who replaced Jess Carter at halftime, also got a chance to showcase her skills.

She also came close to scoring, but her shot went wide.

James scored his first goal for his home country as he shot fourth for the Lionesses and also earned Player of the Match.

With 80% ball possession, it was a genuinely dominant display by England, who are tournament favorites and are using the tournament as good practice for the World Cup later this year.

The World Cup will be held in Australia and New Zealand from July 20th to August 20th.
