Manchester United dominated the official side of the Carabao Cup in the first leg.
United made it past Nottingham Forest with ease last night and are firmly in control heading into the second leg at Old Trafford.
United scored with goals from Marcus Rashford, Wout Wegord and Bruno Fernandes.
Rashford put in a great run to score the first goal and put his left foot into the net against two defenders.
Weghorst rode at the end of a parry shot by the Forest goalkeeper to double United’s lead just before half-time.
A late-game goal from Bruno Fernandes signed the Red Devils on a perfect night at the City ground.
United were represented by nine players in the official XI of the Carabao Cup teams in the first leg.
Two players, Southampton and Newcastle, weren’t the only United stars.
David De Gea made the list, as did his entire back four, which consists of Man of the Match Lisandro Martinez, Victor Lindelof, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, and Tyrell Maracia.
Christian Eriksen was the only member of the United trio not to finish in official 11th place, with Southampton’s Ibrahima Diallo instead being favored after Fernandes and Casemiro.
Not surprisingly, Rashford and Weghorst framed the attack, which also included Newcastle’s Joelinton. Like Eriksen, Anthony also missed.

United are all but certain to be at Wembley for the final, and when the Magpies take on Southampton at St James’ Park, they’ll know who’s in the way.
Newcastle are now on goal with a draw, but it is certainly not an impossible task for the Saints to recover.
