Newcastle’s Eddie Howe makes unwanted history after Liverpool defeat

Newcastle lost 2-0 to Liverpool at St James’ Park on Saturday night, but it was a terrible game for Eddie Howe.

Goals from Darwin Nunez and Cody Gakpo in the first half gave the Reds three points, but more worrying was the red card for Nick Pope.

The loss was Newcastle’s second of the season, both against Liverpool, making Howe the first manager in history to lose 10 consecutive league games against the Reds.

The Merseyside club has proven to be Howe’s bogey team and, fortunately for him, it will be the last time they meet this season.

The stats are incredible given the length of time it spanned and the size of the club which meant that Liverpool suffered defeats to many coaches.

I’m sure this doesn’t bother the Newcastle bosses in the slightest, but no one wants their name next to an unwanted record.
