Tom Brady weighs in on Antonio Brown’s abrupt Buccaneers exit: ‘A difficult situation’

The TB12-AB connection no longer exists.

Antonio Brown just … went halfway through the Buccaneers-Jets showdown in Week 17, much to the chagrin of his quarterback Tom Brady.

The Buccaneers stunningly stripped off their jersey, shoulder pads and jersey before running off the field topless to the locker room during the game. Coach Bruce Arians confirmed after the game that Brown was “no longer a Buc,” meaning it might be the last time we see Brown on a soccer field.

Brady weighed in on Brown’s dazzling departure after the game:

“Obviously that’s a tough situation,” Brady said after the game. “We all love him and care deeply for him. We want to see him at his best. Unfortunately, that will not be with our team.

“I think the most important thing in football is the relationships with your friends and teammates, which go beyond the field. I think everyone should be very compassionate and empathetic with some very difficult things.”

Brady said he didn’t know that Brown left mid-game, but only found out later.

The Buccaneers quarterback and the former Bucs wide receiver have a previous stop together in the NFL, playing a very, very short season together in 2019 with the Patriots. Without Brown on the field, the Buccaneers beat the Jets with a late touchdown, pushing Tampa Bay to 12 wins on the season.

Arians has said in the past that Brown was on thin ice, and that if he “screwed up once,” Tampa Bay would release him.

After several mistakes, Brown is gone.
